Suzuki Gixxer SF offers style, comfort and mileage at an affordable price. A nice buy if you are hunting for something that can break the monotony!
After the launch of the Gixxer 155, Suzuki Motorcycles has managed to take a breath for the first time in the hyper-competitive commuter motorcycles market in India. Now, the Japanese automaker is planning to reach onto next level rivalry and start a new warfare by launching the full-faired Gixxer, which was being expected to be named the GSX-R 150 but is christened the Gixxer SF. Well, while its entering the market as cheapest full-faired bike available in India, it’s also the least powerful of all.
Design, Chassis & Suspension-
As seen in the image, Suzuki has revolutionized the naked Gixxer into a sporty looking motorcycle by bolting up a full fairing at its front. Rear view mirrors havebeenmountedup on the fairing while side indicators have been positioned lower but continue to be in clamp-type style.Rest of the elements have been remained untouched which means stylish dual-barrel silencer, rear-LED tail light and fully-digital instrument console are among the features on SF’s brochure also. Suzuki has beautified the SF further with yellow rimstripesonblue scheme (red in other body colors) and redesigned exhaust cowlwhichhasbrushed-aluminium finish as against chrome plating in case of the 155.
No doubt, the new Gixxer SF (GSX-R 150) looks a taut design and having cues of its elder full-fledged sports siblings. It would be arguably a threat for current segment leaders such as Yamaha Fazer and other bikes in the same price band. It offers choice of three body colors – Metallic Triton Blue, Pearl Mirage White and Glass Sparkle Black.
The Gixxer SF (GSX-R 150) has no any change in terms of underpinning thus the same stiff chassis, developed by engineers of the iconic GSX-R, underpinning the new model, combined with 43mm telescopic shock absorber at front and 7-way adjustable mono-suspension at the rear.
Engine, Transmission, Mileage & Brakes-
Same as the chassis, powering the new model is the Gixxer’s engine. It’s a 154.9cc air-cooled motor that produces 14.8PS at 8000 rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. This carbureted engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and is impeccably refined in nature as well as frugal enough, delivers 63.5 kmpl mileage on the Gixxer which company says is courtesy of their Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology. Controlling the wheels is a disc brake at front and drum type setup at the rear. The Gixxer is very agile when its comes to riding dynamics and bears a very sporty handling that will remain the beauty of the new vehicle as well. However, given its fairing the new model is 4 kg heavier but that is not affecting its performance. Interestingly, at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016, the Suzuki Gixxer SF Fi has broken the cover. It features fuel-injection system at place of carburetor and is said to be even more refined and responsive. Comparison: Suzuki Gixxer SF VS Suzuki Gixxer 155
If we talk about the Gixxer 155, it’s one of the competitively priced bikes in its segment, priced at Rs 79,957 (on-road, Delhi) – one of its major USPs that attracting prospective buyers. To keep this attraction alive, the new full-faired model has been launched at Rs 83,859 (ex-showroom, Delhi) in our country. No doubt, the Gixxer SF (GSX-R 150) is ready to give tough competition to its rivals.
Suzuki Gixxer SF rear-disc has been launched in India at Rs Rs 87,243 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Gixxer 155 rear-disc is priced at Rs 79,726 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
