Datsun Redi-GO – All you want to know!

Datsun Redi-GO red colorSince the time Renault KWID has reached on Indian roads the likes of Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon are finding different ways to maintain the audience’s attention. These two cars really don’t appear value-for-money now as the KWID comes up as a bolder package overall. Now, to make things more ugly for Hyundai and Maruti, Datsun has introduced an all-new product, the redi-GO. Datsun Redi-GO made its global debut in India and is company’s third product for the country and 5th globally. Datsun says it’s India’s first Urban Cross vehicle. We are not much familiar with this segment, though, but the new car is undoubtedly way ahead of its competitors. Let’s find out what it does have to stand above competition

Exterior & Interior –

Talking about its design, the Redi-GO boasts of a contemporary upright stance. It’s the tallest vehicle in its segment and aids abundant headroom for passengers. Sharp body lines, large lamps, broad bumpers, daytime running Lamps, and wide daylight openings make the Redi-GO looks class apart. The Redi-GO has the highest ground clearance, of 185 mm, in its segment. To put this into perspective, Swift, i20 and KWID all has lesser underbody clearance. On the other hand, the Datsun Redi-GO has short overhangs. Both these characteristics will allow this little hatch to  negotiate easily with Indian roads. Step inside the redi-GO and the first thing that you’ll notice is brightness inside the cabin. Datsun has given the redi-GO beige tone treatment which makes it looks live and more spacious than that of its competitors.

Engine, Transmission & Mileage –redi-GO i-SAT engine

Powering the redi-GO will be the same 800 cc 3-cylinder engine that serves duty under the hood of the KWID. The unit is trademarked as i-SAT engine and is being marketed as an all-new engine however power output and mileage figure is similar to that of the KWID. The redi-GO delivers 54 PS at 5678 rpm and 72 Nm of torque at 4,338 rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. ARAI certified mileage of the redi-GO is 25.17 kmpl.

No diesel and AMT options are in discussion at this point in time Underpins the car is CMF-A platform that Nissan and Renault has developed in a joint venture for a range of their future entry-level cars. Datsun says the car is supported on a new suspension system.

Price & Launch Date –

Overall, the Redi-GO comes as quite an impressive package that appeals even more value-for-money once you know that in terms of price it will be attractive than its competitors, Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Renault KWID. Datsun is accepting bookings for the redi-GO at a token amount of Rs 5,000. Deliveries will begin in early June. Alongside this, the company will also offer several accessory packages for the redi-GO.
