To keep US audience interest alive in its entry-level sedan, Mercedes-Benz provided a mild update to both the CLA and its other avatars. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA will debut at 2016 New York Motor show, starting from March 23.
Mercedes-Benz hasn’t played much with the current design, which undoubtedly is quite a stunner to look at, though a few upgrades are there to let the model appear fresh. At front, the CLA gets a slightly updated grille, restyled bumper, new pattern for alloy wheels and LED headlamps which are optional on the CLA250 but standard on 2017 CLA45 AMG. Talking about AMG version, the updated performance variant benefits from titanium grey inserts in front splitter, and high gloss black lip spoiler.People craving for more aggressive look can opt for optional AMG aerodynamics package. The rear-end has gained only diminutive changes like exhaust pipes are integrated into bumper now.
Inside the cabin, the CLA has received a healthy amount of updates including new upholstery and trim parts, revised control switches and so has the instrument cluster. Mercedes-Benz added a new slimmer looking 8-inch infotainment display which now features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as add-ons. Apart from this, Active Brake Assist safety system, which stops the vehicle automatically in a potential collision, and rear view camera are standard fitments. Hands Free Access system which allows the boot to be opened just by sweeping leg beneath the rear bumper is also available but as a part of Premium Package.
2017 Mercedes CLA250 makes use of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 208 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,200 and 4,000 rpm, channeled to all four wheels via a combination of 7-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. It’s also available in front-wheel drive layout though. The flagship CLA45 AMG produces 375 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 474 Nm of torque between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm from a 2.0 litre turbocharged unit, doing 0-100 kmph in a flick of 4.2 seconds.
Mercedes will launch the 2017 CLA in US in third quarter of 2017. India launch can be expected by early-2017.
